Today i saw a baby girl turning 1 year old with her mum, what are the nutrition tips for this 12-24 month transition period?
The main thing is to ensure adequate iron as by this time the baby has weaned off breast milk and started solid. Babies can get their iron from food only. Parents can ensure their babies have 2 tablespoons of red meat, twice a day, with some iron-fortified baby cereals in the morning and pork liver once a month.
When preparing a meal for the babies, include grains, vegetables, and meat. Fruit and milk products can be offered as nutritious snacks between meals.
To share family dishes with the babies, remember to take out the baby's portion before seasoning.
Babies with a poor appetite? Check if being offered too much milk. 360ml -480ml milk per day is adequate for 1-2 years old.
